The catchment of Munna Creek starts above Ban Ban Springs NW of Fernvale. It
is a permanent watercourse. Rainforest skirts the edge unbroken for kilometres.
The combination of water & forest promotes a huge diversity of fauna & flora.
Water dragons, platypus, native fish (catfish, jewfish, mullet, perch {spangled
& silver}, Mary River cod, bass). Through different times of the year the creek
is busy with many bird species (cranes, ibis, wedge-tailed eagle, osprey, azure
& forest kingfishers, migratory birds, robins, wrens, grebes, parrots as well as
woodland birds). Continuos flow of water keeps scattered swimming holes clean &
deep. Swimming holes abound along the water course. Fishing in the creek is
permitted. There is no fee but under law any Mary River Cod (endangered species)
must be released.
