Crayfish Catching- Hunt for yabbies in
Munna creek. Craig is happy to teach the kids how to catch
yabbies with a piece of string and a lump of meat.

Spotting Platypus- Munna Creek has an
established platypus family and if you are quiet and careful they can be
observed swimming and feeding in their natural environment.

Satellite Spotting- The open and clear
skies are good for seeing who can spot the most satellites in the early
evening sky. They look like a star travelling across the sky. Sometimes they
can be quite bright and are called "iridium flares". Meteors or "shooting
stars" are common to see on any night and are also worth keeping an eye out
for.

Fishing- Apart from fishing in the stocked
dams Munna Creek is a fun spot to try your luck on some wild fish such as
catfish and freshwater mullet.

Bushwalking- All of Fernhill Park is
fenced and surrounded by a firebreak. This gives easy, safe access to
interesting walks through forest, the creek and pasture to see different
habitats and how the species change through them. Be sure to take water and
wear sturdy shoes.

Sport and Play Area- Cricket, soccer, fly
a kite, throw a Frisbee, kick a footy.... The large open playing field allows
you to play any game or do any activity that requires lots of space. Run,
throw or jump to your hearts content. In full view of the camping areas.

Spotlighting- Good forest creates superb
habitat for Australian species to thrive and night time is when it comes alive
the most. Being quiet with a torch can reveal many secret activities in the
tree canopy. A red filter for torch lenses is best for viewing without
interrupting animal activities.

Cycling- A firebreak is kept clear around
the perimeter of Fernhill Park and is ideal for a mountain-bike or bmx to go
for a cruise. Numerous other tracks and open paddocks allow access to all of
Fernhill.

Swimming- Munna creek has a swimming hole
with a sandy bottom and usually slow moving water. A good place for kids to
swim with a cooling effect on hot days.

Astronomy- If you have a telescope or a
pair of binoculars and a steady hand Fernhill Park is far from city lights and
offers a great opportunity on a clear night.

Nature study- Because of the diversity of
wildlife at Fernhill Park it is a great place for an introduction to plant and
animal interactions through to in depth studies for experienced enthusiasts.
